About the Role:
This full-time counselling role works primarily with a Lived Experience Peer Mentor and provides counselling, brief intervention and treatment support to clients residing in the Community Rehabilitation, Recovery and Support (CRRS) program, as well as AOD counselling for clients in the general community.
Working closely with multidisciplinary team members, this role also provides support across the client journey including initial contact, comprehensive assessment, risk assessment and safety planning, treatment planning and review and evidence-based counselling and brief interventions to individuals and their family members, within harm minimisation and recovery frameworks.
Requirements of the Position:
* Full and unconditional professional registration with AHPRA, Australian Counselling Association or the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia.
* Diploma in Counselling or Bachelor degree + Counselling qualifications/experience.
* Proven skills in record keeping and report writing, and sound computer literacy
* Experience working within best practice therapeutic frameworks.
* Excellent communication skills, ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Certificate IV Alcohol and Other Drugs
* Current Working With Vulnerable People Card, First Aid Certificate, Driver's License and Police Check. Please note that applicants with a police record are not automatically barred from applying for roles at Karralika. Each application will be considered on its merits, with reference to the role.
Desirable:
* Counselling experience working with people who have substance use issues.
* Experience in group work (e.g. SMART, or other)
