Fancy living and working in the beautiful central Flinders Ranges in a community-based role? Have an interest in History?
The Blinman Progress Association welcomes applications from a suitably qualified and experienced person to manage our highly regarded Blinman Heritage Mine underground mine tours. The key focus of the position is to provide and manage daily tours, alongside providing the public face of the town's Visitor Information service.
About Blinman:
Blinman is a beautiful, historic, vibrant small outback town nestled in the hills of the central Flinders Ranges on traditional Adnyamathanha land. The town supports a population of around 30 town residents, with about 50 others living and working on the surrounding pastoral properties. Blinman began with the discovery of copper in 1859, by a shepherd named Robert Blinman or "Pegleg'' as he was better known. This discovery led to the establishment of an extensive mining operation in the area, the remnants of which can still be explored today. Since 2010 the Blinman Heritage Mine has welcomed visitors to explore the old mine workings and has interpreted the heritage of the historic mine and town.
