Why this role?
Australia's energy system is transforming rapidly – with that comes opportunity and risk. This role places you at the forefront of helping manage a smooth, secure and sustainable transition away from traditional thermal generation. If you are passionate about climate and energy policy, and want to contribute meaningfully to one of the country's biggest challenges, this is your chance.
About the role
You will be part of a forward-thinking policy team responsible for developing insights and advice to support the country's shift to cleaner energy. The focus is on making sure this change is coordinated, reliable and fair. This includes looking at the future role of gas, managing the risks of coal power station exits, and working with others to ensure the electricity system stays stable as more renewables come online.
What you will do
Research and analyse the role of gas power in a changing energy mix.
Monitor developments in coal power and assess related reliability risks.
Provide advice on policies that support an orderly energy transition.
Work with various internal and external stakeholders to align efforts and share insights.
Help develop frameworks for managing change and maintaining energy reliability.
What you will bring
Experience or knowledge of the energy sector would be highly regarded for this role.
Creative thinking and a readiness to tackle complex policy problems.
Strong judgement and the ability to work independently when needed.
Clear, effective communication skills (written and spoken).
Sharp research skills and a commitment to evidence-based advice for policy benefits and costs.
A collaborative approach and willingness to work closely with others.
Join us and help power Australia's energy future
Apply Now to be part of a smart, driven team working on one of the nation's most important transitions. The work you do here will matter – for the grid, for the environment and for generations to come.
