About the role

We are looking for an Aboriginal person to join Aboriginal Heritage Tasmania as an Aboriginal Heritage Advisor. This is a role where you can make a real difference by helping to protect and promote unique Aboriginal cultural heritage across Lutruwita/Tasmania.

In this job, you will:
* Give advice about Aboriginal heritage to community, government and land managers.
* Support the work of the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1975.
* Help look after important heritage records and information.
* Participate in fieldwork on Country.
* Build strong and respectful relationships with the Aboriginal community.
* Contribute to Aboriginal Heritage projects.

You don't need formal qualifications - we can teach you the systems, tools and legislation. If you have cultural knowledge and experience in heritage or land management, we'd love to hear from you.

This role is permanent full‐time (36.75 hours per week) but there is the option to negotiate part‐time hours (a minimum of 29.40 hours per week).

What we're looking for

We are seeking someone who:

* Has knowledge of Tasmanian Aboriginal history and culture.
* Is aware of cultural heritage management practices.
* Can learn legislation, systems and processes quickly.
* Can undertake data collection and fieldwork.
* Communicates well with a range of people and can provide clear advice.
* Can stay organised and manage different tasks at once.

We welcome applicants with a range of cultural, community, heritage or land‐based experience who have transferable skills and a willingness to learn!

Essential Requirements
* This is an Aboriginal identified position, open only to applicants who meet the Tasmanian Government's eligibility requirements listed in Employment Direction No. 10 – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment in the State Service. * This role requires the successful candidate to have a current Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Employment Status) or the ability to obtain one before they commence in the role.

Desirable Requirements

You don't need these to apply, but they are helpful:

* A qualification in a relevant field (such as heritage, archaeology, anthropology, land/environmental management).
* A current Workplace Level 2 First Aid Certificate (or ability to obtain one).
* A current motor vehicle driver's licence.
