The Role
You will have a significant impact by managing a team of signalling designers across all phases of the project. You will provide technical expertise and act as a subject matter expert for signalling design.
Your key responsibilities include:
* Leading the signalling design team across all phases of the project from concept through to detailed design and handover.
* Ensuring designs comply with relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
* Providing guidance, mentorship and competency development for signalling engineers and designers.
* Reviewing and approving technical deliverables including drawings, specifications and reports.
* Coordinating with internal teams, contractors and clients to facilitate design integration and resolution of technical issues.
* Maintaining project schedules, resource plans and budgets for the signalling design function.
* Supporting project risk management by identifying design risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
* Contributing to business development and client engagement through technical expertise and market knowledge.

Requirements
We are seeking an experienced professional with 15 years' experience in railway signalling who has specialist knowledge of conventional signal design and demonstrated leadership capability.
You will also need:
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Electrical/Electronic or Mechatronics Engineering
* Certificate(s) of competency from rail transport operators such as MTM, VLINE, ARTC (etc)
* Accreditation from Engineers Australia and membership with IRSE
* Strong technical knowledge of conventional signal design principles, ETCS and whole of life project management experience
* In-depth knowledge of systems that interface to signalling such as rolling stock, power, communications, track and civil
* Able to lead signal design engineers and/or project teams to meet client expectations
* Excellent understanding of document and design control processes
* Strong planning, organisation and problem-solving abilities
* Strong computer, software and systems literacy
* Excellent client relationship management skill and interpersonal and communication skills
