Job Description

Position Overview

The IT Support Technician provides responsive and effective technical support to staff and students to ensure the reliable operation of the College’s information technology systems. The role supports teaching, learning and administrative functions by maintaining hardware, software, networks and digital services across the College.

Working as part of the Information Technology team, the IT Support Technician assists with troubleshooting technical issues, deploying and maintaining devices, supporting classroom technologies, and ensuring systems operate efficiently and securely. The role contributes to a positive user experience by providing timely support, clear communication and practical solutions.

As a member of a Christian learning community, the IT Support Technician supports the mission and values of the College and contributes to a culture of service, professionalism and collaboration. The role works closely with staff and students to ensure technology enhances learning while maintaining safe, secure and responsible use of digital resources.

Occupational Requirements & Qualifications

The IT Support Technician must have:

Relevant qualification in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience. Current Working With Children Check (Blue Card) Current CPR Certification or willingness to obtain.

Duties And Responsibilities

Help Desk and Technical Support

Provide first-level IT support to staff, students and, where required, parents by diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, network and AV issues in a timely and professional manner. Engage with the College Service Desk ticketing system to ensure support requests are logged, tracked and resolved within agreed service levels, maintaining accurate communication, resolution and asset records. Provide clear communication and a high standard of customer service to all users, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently or escalated where required. Assist in developing the IT capability of staff and students by coaching users through troubleshooting processes and guiding them in the effective use of College-issued or personal devices. Visit locations across the College campus to identify, assess and resolve IT or AV issues impacting teaching, learning and administration.

Device, Systems and Asset Management

Install, configure, maintain and deploy computers, laptops, mobile devices, printers and peripheral equipment across the College. Prepare and deploy device images and software in collaboration with senior IT staff to ensure devices are configured to College standards and ready for staff and student use. Maintain, repair, replace and issue authorised IT and AV equipment to staff and students as required. Maintain accurate IT asset registers and coordinate warranty repairs for College-owned equipment to ensure efficient use of College resources. Deploy and update software across multiple platforms to support teaching, learning and administrative systems.

Audio Visual (AV) and Event Support

Set up and support audiovisual equipment across the College and at external venues for meetings, presentations and College events. Provide technical support for AV and video conferencing systems to ensure professional and seamless delivery of events and presentations. Assist in coordinating and supporting AV operations for major College events such as ceremonies and presentation evenings, which may occasionally occur outside normal working hours. Where after hours work is required, the Time Off In Lieu (TOIL) will be provided as per College policy. Ensure AV equipment is maintained and available to meet the operational needs of the College.

Classroom and Learning Technology Support

Support the effective operation of classroom technologies including projectors, interactive displays, audio systems and other digital learning tools. Assist teaching staff with the use of College systems and digital platforms to maximise the effectiveness of technology in teaching and learning. Develop expertise in key College IT systems to provide advice and guidance on their efficient and appropriate use. Ensure technology used in classrooms and learning spaces is operational and available to support the delivery of the learning program.

Systems Maintenance, Security and Continuous Improvement

Assist in maintaining the security, reliability and integrity of the College’s IT systems by following established security processes and procedures. Monitor the College printer fleet, ensuring adequate supplies of consumables and coordinating service calls to minimise downtime. Contribute to routine system maintenance tasks including updates, backups and monitoring as directed by senior IT staff. Monitor existing IT and AV procedures and recommend improvements that align with best practice and support the evolving technology needs of the College. Maintain confidentiality and comply with College policies relating to data protection, cybersecurity and acceptable use of technology.
