About the role
Join our Business and Private Client Advisory division, supporting small to large private businesses, family groups, not-for-profits, and foreign-owned businesses. We provide services such as accounting & tax compliance, advisory, structuring, superannuation, wealth management, and transactional services.
You will be a key member of our property sector team, led by three partners and supported by seven staff. You will manage and administer smaller clients, have face-to-face client contact, and be responsible for meeting productivity, client budgets, and deadlines.
Key responsibilities
* Prepare tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships.
* Prepare Business Activity Statements and Instalment Activity Statements.
* Manage Tax Office correspondence (e.g., assessments, instalments, PAYG variations).
* Prepare Fringe Benefit Tax returns.
* Prepare comprehensive financial accounts for all entities.
* Generate and analyze management reports such as cash flow and budgets.
* Prepare workpapers to the division's quality standards.
* Support and mentor junior team members, acting as a buddy when needed.
* Prepare budgets and billing for services rendered.
* Participate in additional firm activities like training, careers fairs, committees, marketing, and special projects.
Key skills and experience
* 18 months to 3 years' experience in a Business Services environment within a Chartered/CPA practice, with some exposure to tax issues.
* Degree qualified, with CA/CPA studies underway.
* Technically proficient, with a desire to stay updated on taxation law and accounting developments.
* Supportive and capable of mentoring junior staff and acting as a buddy.
* Able to identify issues and discuss with the appropriate manager.
* Excellent time management skills to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
* Professional presentation and strong interpersonal and communication skills for client and team interactions.
* Experience with APS, Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
