The role

Are you passionate about strengthening creative communities, supporting local artists, and driving cultural development across a diverse and vibrant region? MidCoast Council is seeking a motivated and community‐minded Community & Cultural Development Officer - Arts Development to help shape the cultural future of our area.

Reporting to the Community & Cultural Development Coordinator, this role delivers arts development initiatives, cultural programs, and community capacity‐building projects that support Council's strategic vision. Working across the MidCoast region, you'll help strengthen creative industries, foster cultural participation, and contribute to a vibrant and connected community.

The position leads projects aligned with the MidCoast Cultural Plan,administers the community and cultural grants program andidentifies funding opportunities through grant writing and research. You'll help plan and evaluate cultural strategies, deliver programs and events, and build strong relationships with local artists, creative industries, and cultural organisations. The role also provides advice on public art, collaborates across Council to support diverse cultural activities, and maintains accurate reporting to track community impact.

What You'll Bring

Qualifications in arts management, cultural development, or relevant industry experience.Strong grounding in arts funding, cultural policy, and sector development, with experience delivering capacity‐building track record in grant writing, reporting, and managing constructive partnerships with diverse stakeholders.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, with the ability to plan and deliver projects effectivelyCurrent Class C Driver Licence and Working with Children Check.

Salary

Commencing salary circa $44,850 p.a. (pro rata salary at 21 hours per week)12.5% SuperannuationSalary negotiable based on skills and experience

Location:This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure

Permanent, Part Time21 Hours per weekDays of work are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday
