Offer description

Be the Architect of Golden North's Future Supply Chain.

We are seeking a Logistics Manager to design, implement, and own the cold-store operations and national distribution strategy for our brand-new, state-of-the-art facility in Murray Bridge. This is a rare chance to step into an established, iconic SA company and lead a start-up operation from day one. You will be fully accountable for inventory integrity, Chain of Responsibility (CoR) compliance, asset management, and building a high-performing team ready for rapid growth. If you thrive on process optimisation and full autonomy in a high-value environment, this is your next career move.

Job Description (Detailed Breakdown of the Role)

This section incorporates the detailed responsibilities, essential skills, and success metrics, presented clearly.

About Golden North

Proudly South Australian owned and operated for over 100 years, Golden North is a premium ice cream manufacturer expanding into a new, state-of-the-art facility in Murray Bridge. We are committed to quality, safety, and operational excellence.

What You'll Own (The Strategic Wins)

We've grouped the job into four core areas—your mission is to turn these into strengths:

1. Cold-Store Command & Inventory Mastery

* Own and manage 100% of all inventory levels and stock rotation protocols (FIFO, LIFO, etc.), including third-party off-site storage when required.
* Generate simple, high-impact capacity reports to ensure the cold-store asset is always efficiently utilised.
* Directly manage the forklift fleet, including PM scheduling, breakdown reporting, and compliance checks (e.g., weekly pre-starts).

2. Supply Chain & Stakeholder Shield

* Act as the primary contact point for all external transport providers, quickly resolving delivery issues, delays, or non-standard requirements.
* Manage all complex sales requests (late orders, specific pallet configurations, unique labelling) to ensure seamless delivery without impacting daily operations.
* Ensure absolute compliance with all Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements across scheduling and loadout plans.

3. People & Performance Leadership

* Lead the Loadout Supervisor, Leading Hand, and floor team. Own the training needs analysis (TNA) and schedule for all staff.
* Conduct formal performance reviews, coaching sessions, and career development to build a team ready for future growth.
* Ensure adequate manning and robust rostering to cover production peaks and unplanned absences.

4. Compliance & Continuous Improvement

* Oversee all site compliance for the cold-store, including annual pallet racking audits and licensing (forklift tickets).
* Complete all incident reporting, with a specific focus on external incidents involving Golden North freight that have left the site.
* Actively seek and implement process, equipment, and efficiency improvements, focusing on cost reduction and reduced truck turnaround times.

Who We Need (The Essentials)

3+ Years in Logistics/WHS Leadership

You've led teams in a complex FMCG, Cold-Store, or manufacturing environment.

Advanced WMS/Inventory System Proficiency

You can implement, audit, and troubleshoot system issues to ensure 100% data integrity.

Demonstrated CoR/Compliance Experience

You understand the legal risks of transport and can lead complex audits (e.g., Racking Inspection).

People-First Leadership Style

The ability to delegate, train, and coach a diverse team for long-term retention and performance.

Forklift Licence (Highly Desirable)

Allows you to lead hands-on training and step into a support role when necessary.

How Success Looks (Your KPIs in Year One)

* Inventory Accuracy: Maintain 99.8% physical-to-system inventory accuracy.
* Safety & Compliance: Achieve zero major breaches of CoR, and 100% closure of racking audit actions within 14 days.
* Loadout Efficiency: Reduce average truck turnaround time by 15% through process optimisation.
* Team Development: Implement a robust training matrix with 100% compliance for mandatory training.
