Offer description

Overview

The People Project Tasmania – Devonport, TAS. The People Project Tasmania (TPPT) is a not-for-profit organisation and one of seven government-funded Rural Workforce Agencies (RWAs) nationally. We support Tasmanian communities by strengthening the health workforce and delivering support coordination, plan management and capacity-building services to NDIS participants across the state. We are seeking an experienced and strategic Project Manager to lead the Northwest Tasmania Integrated Care and Commissioning (ICC) trial site, an initiative focused on improving access to health, aged care, disability and veterans' services in rural and remote communities.

The Position

The Project Manager will establish and oversee a series of projects under the Northwest Tasmania ICC trial site. This initiative aims to improve access to and delivery of health, aged care, disability and veterans' care services — particularly for people living in rural and remote regions and for First Nations communities. The role sits within our Community Innovation Team and reports to the General Manager. The Project Manager will work with minimal supervision while engaging extensively with stakeholders across government, community and service sectors.

You will collaborate with the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing regional stewards and ICC policy team, partner agencies, and local communities to trial new and innovative models of care and support in thin markets.

Key responsibilities

* Leading multiple concurrent projects from planning through to delivery, evaluation and reporting
* Driving ICC trial proposals and identifying new opportunities in consultation with communities using co-design approaches
* Establishing and chairing a local Stakeholder Advisory Group
* Contributing to government-led Regional Working Groups
* Preparing high-quality briefs, reports and presentations for diverse audiences
* Identifying and mitigating project and stakeholder risks
* Contributing to a national community of practice and cross-site learning

This is a unique opportunity to shape service system reform in Northwest Tasmania and contribute to practical, community-led solutions that improve access to essential services.

The What You'll Bring

We're looking for a strategic and collaborative project leader who thrives in complex environments and is motivated by improving outcomes for rural communities.

You will demonstrate:

* Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects within health, aged care, disability, veterans' services or related human services sectors
* Strong knowledge of the Australian aged care system, NDIS and/or veterans' support systems, including commissioning and funding arrangements
* Experience working in rural and/or remote communities, with an understanding of thin markets and service access challenges
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively and respectfully with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations, including culturally responsive engagement and co-design approaches
* Proven capacity to build and maintain productive relationships across Commonwealth, state and local governments, community organisations and service providers
* The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within tight timeframes
* High-level written communication skills, including preparation of briefs, funding proposals, reports and strategic documentation
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in health, public health, social policy, community development, project management, disability, aged care or a related discipline are required (or equivalent demonstrated experience). Project management certification is highly desirable.
* A current driver's licence and willingness to travel across Northwest Tasmania is essential.

The Organisation

The People Project Tasmania is a not-for-profit incorporated association contracted by the Australian and Tasmanian governments to recruit and retain general practitioners, nurses and allied health professionals across Tasmania, with an emphasis on rural and remote communities. We are one of seven Rural Workforce Agencies funded by the Australian Government nationally.

Our main office is located in Launceston, with satellite offices in George Town and Devonport. This role will work closely with stakeholders across Northwest Tasmania and will require regular regional travel.

Our culture is collaborative, supportive and genuinely people-focused. We invest in professional development, value innovation, and create an environment where everyone's contribution is recognised. There are corporate days, shared lunches, morning teas to celebrate and plenty of indoor plants.

The People Project Tasmania is committed to inclusivity and diversity and we encourage applications from people with lived experience of disability and from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

What's on offer?

This is an opportunity to lead meaningful system reform that directly impacts rural Tasmanian communities.

In addition to a competitive salary (commensurate with experience), we offer:
