Offer description

Organisation/Entity: Transport For NSW

Job category: Projects

Job location: Macquarie Park, NSW, AU, 2113

Job reference number: 107191

Employment type: Permanent Full-Time

Salary range: An attractive remuneration package

You're a purposeful leader with extensive experience operating at a senior executive or equivalent level across electrical engineering and/or asset management in complex infrastructure environments. You will be part of the Chief Engineer's leadership team, contributing to enterprise-wide technical authority, engineering standards and asset management outcomes across Transport for NSW. In this role, you'll:

Join the Engineering function within the Prioritisation & Asset Management (PAM) Branch, which provides enterprise-level technical authority and asset management leadership to support whole‐of‐life performance, risk and value optimisation across Transport's asset portfolio.

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will act as cluster‐wide technical authority for energy networks and systems across all modes of transport, including traction power, substations, distribution networks, and associated electrical infrastructure - setting direction, assuring performance and enabling evidence‐based decisions that serve NSW customers, communities and the broader economy.

You will lead the development and governance of engineering and asset management standards, applying an ISO 55000‐aligned, whole‐of‐life lens to balance safety, risk, performance, sustainability and value for money. This includes oversight of assurance, concessions and technical risk across a complex portfolio of brownfield and new assets.

Operating confidently in a politically and publicly visible environment, you will provide trusted advice to executive and governance forums, navigate competing priorities, and challenge the status quo where needed - shifting thinking from gold‐plated solutions to pragmatic, outcomes‐focused infrastructure choices.

You will build and lead a high‐performing team of senior engineers and specialists, strengthening capability, fostering innovation and enabling consistent, risk‐informed engineering decisions across all modes of transport.

This is a full‐time Ongoing (Permanent) Transport Senior Service Executive TSSE1A level role offering an attractive remuneration package and based at Macquarie Park.

About You

* Demonstrated experience providing enterprise‐level technical and asset management advice for complex electrical engineering infrastructure assets (e.g. traction power, substations, distribution networks, and associated electrical infrastructure), including whole‐of‐life performance, assurance and system risk.
* Demonstrated understanding of the full asset lifecycle, with practical application of ISO 55000 asset management principles.
* Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, standards, and codes of practice in a multidisciplinary engineering environment with specific knowledge of the technical requirements affecting multi modal services and assets.
* Proven ability to provide clear, authoritative advice on complex technical matters to executive and governance stakeholders.
* Strong strategic and analytical capability, balancing risk, performance, customer outcomes and affordability.
* Resilient and inclusive leader, able to challenge established approaches, adapt to change and lead through complexity.
* Experience managing and influencing highly skilled technical specialists while maintaining a pragmatic, outcomes‐focused approach.
* Skilled in building relationships of trust across government, industry and the community to deliver public value.
* Hold tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, with extensive knowledge and experience in engineering, operational systems and/or related field.
* Professional engineering registration (e.g. Chartered Professional Engineer or equivalent recognised professional registration).
* You can meet Rail Safety Worker's requirements.

Applications close 11:59 PM Sunday 17 May 2026.
