We are seeking a hands-on Maintenance Officer/ Handyman to support the day-to-day operational performance of a retail shopping centre in the
northern suburbs.
This is a 4- 6 month contract position with an immediate start, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast paced setting, takes pride in safety, and enjoys solving practical problems.
About the Role:
In this support role, you will be responsible for the upkeep and functionality of the centre. From managing routine repairs and preventive maintenance to responding to unexpected issues, you'll help ensure everything from lighting to HVAC systems runs smoothly and safely. You'll work closely with the Senior Operations Manager, retailers, contractors, and external stakeholders to maintain a safe, clean, and fully functioning space for both customers and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
* General upkeep of public areas, staff facilities, carparks, signage, and loading docks
* Carry out reactive and planned maintenance tasks (plumbing, lighting, minor repairs, etc.)
* Support safety procedures and emergency preparedness
* Assist with centre minor capital works and maintenance planning
* Oversee and support permit-to-work processes for contractors
* Provide reports, admin support, and job tracking through a CMMS system
What You Bring:
* Trade background or strong hands-on maintenance experience in building services
* Knowledge of HSE requirements and emergency response support
* Understanding of contractor management and permit processes
* Strong communication and time management skills
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team
You must be available to work Monday - Friday, 6am- 2pm and have flexibility to work outside standard hours if required.
