About Us
Lost Reality is a premier escape room provider in Perth, operating two busy locations in Cannington and Victoria Park. We are known for our immersive themes and high-quality puzzles. We are currently in a growth phase, with plans to expand to a third location this year.
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Full-Time Technician to take ownership of the technical maintenance and production across our venues.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring our rooms are fully operational at all times. You will handle preventative maintenance, urgent repairs, and the fabrication of spare parts.
This is a hands-on position ideal for a creative, tech-savvy technician who is just as comfortable troubleshooting electronics and software as they are using power tools. All tools, 3D printers, and materials are provided by the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Preventative Maintenance: Conduct weekly technical audits of all escape rooms (mag-locks, sensors, props, and puzzles) to prevent breakdowns.
* Repairs & Troubleshooting: Perform timely repairs on broken props, scenic elements, and electronic/software components to minimize room downtime.
* 3D Design & Fabrication: Operate our on-site 3D printers to produce spare parts and replacement props. (Ability to design these parts in CAD is a bonus, but we also have a dedicated 3D designer on the team).
* Room Upgrades: Identify weak points in current game designs and engineer more durable solutions.
* New Build Support: Assist with the technical fit-out, prop construction, and installation for our upcoming third location.
* Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed logs of all completed repairs, maintenance tasks, and safety checks. Manage the inventory of spare parts, tools, and consumables to ensure essential supplies are always on hand.
Skills & Experience Required
* Practical Build Skills: Minimum 1-2 years of demonstrated experience in basic carpentry, fabrication, and the safe use of power tools to build or repair physical room elements.
* Tech-Savvy & Electronics: Escape rooms run on technology. You must be comfortable troubleshooting low-voltage electronics (12V systems), mag-locks, sensors, soldering, and wiring. (Hobbyist level is perfect, knowledge of Arduino or Raspberry Pi is highly regarded).
* Problem Solving: You are a versatile problem solver. Whether dealing with a software glitch, a mechanical failure, or structural wear and tear, you can quickly diagnose the root cause of any issue and provide a permanent, reliable solution.
* 3D Printing & CAD (Preferred but not essential): Experience with 3D printing or CAD software (e.g. Fusion 360 or Blender) is highly regarded. If you don't have CAD experience but are great with tech and tools, we still want to hear from you.
* Reliability: A proactive approach to work with a focus on quality and attention to detail.
* Driver's License: Ability to travel between all our locations as required.
What We Offer
* Stability: A permanent full-time position with a stable roster.
* Resources: We provide all necessary power tools, 3D printing equipment, and materials required to get the job done.
* Growth: The opportunity to play a key technical role in the expansion of the business, with the potential to build and lead a technical team as we grow.
* Creative Industry: Work in a unique, fun environment where your technical skills help create immersive experiences for thousands of players.
