Consultant Cardiologist with an Interest in Imaging

Job Summary
An exciting opportunity to join an existing team of nine Consultant Cardiologists. The post focuses on cardiac imaging and offers a flexible seven‐day service with weekend and potential on‐call duties in line with GIRFT guidance.
Responsibilities
* Maintain the highest clinical standards in Cardiology.
* Provide outpatient services in general Cardiology and, where agreed, sub‐specialty imaging services.
* Give cardiology advice to medical and surgical inpatients.
* Collaborate with medical, nursing and allied health professionals to improve and advance the service.
* Share responsibility for departmental management, teaching, and training of trainees, residents, nurses, primary‐care staff and medical students.
* Ensure active participation in continuing professional development (CPD).
Qualifications
* Essential: MRCP or equivalent; on the specialist register for Cardiology or within 6 months of admission to the register for trainees, or eligible for GMC specialist register (evidence required); Licence to Practice.
* Desirable: Relevant higher degree.
Experience
* Essential: Demonstrated high level of clinical experience and competence across all aspects of Cardiology; significant experience in cardiac imaging sub‐specialty; ability to offer expert clinical opinions on a range of cardiovascular problems; demonstrated leadership and teamwork across professions; broad experience in Cardiology; understanding of current issues within Cardiology and NHS.
* Desirable: Attendance at a recognised management course.
Teaching and Training
* Essential: Experience and enthusiasm for clinical teaching of post‐graduate doctors and non‐medical staff.
* Desirable: Academic achievements or publications; training in clinical and educational supervision; attendance at a teaching course; formal qualification in teaching/education.
Audit and Research
* Essential: Knowledge of audit principles and evidence of participation in and completion of audit projects with implementation of outcomes.
* Desirable: Critical appraisal skills; knowledge of research methodology.
Personal Qualities
* Essential: Ability to use IT systems – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; evidence of innovation.
* Desirable: Continual learning and development; self‐awareness of strengths, weaknesses and impact on others.

Salary: £113,565 to £150,569 per annum pro rata.
