Job Title: Orthoptist
Job Type: Part Time (4 days per week)
Location: Melbourne Eye Surgeons, Malvern VIC
We are seeking an enthusiastic part-time orthoptist to join our team at a busy small practice in Malvern to work alongside our 2 Ophthalmologists. The desired days are Tuesday-Friday, 8hrs/day, 8.30am to 5.00pm or 9.00am to 5.30pm depending on clinic requirements.
Clinic Specialties include:
1. Cataract assessment and treatment
2. Glaucoma Management
3. Medical Retina
4. Paediatrics and Strabismus
5. General Ophthalmology
Orthoptist responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. General ophthalmic assessments including history taking, subjective refraction, vertometry, IOP(Icare) measurement
2. Ocular motility and binocular vision assessment of both children and adults
3. OCT (Spectralis)
4. Humphrey Visual Field Testing (HFA3)
5. Biometry (IOL Master 700)
6. Optos Fundus Photography
7. Setting up and assisting with minor surgical procedures including intravitreal injections
8. Some administration duties including surgical preparation and drafting correspondence
9. Answering patient enquiries
Position requirements:
1. An Orthoptics qualification
2. Professional Indemnity Insurance
3. Registration with the Australian Orthoptic Board (AOB)
4. Current Working With Children Check (WWCC)
5. Effective time management, priority management and problem solving skills
6. Demonstrated written, verbal and interpersonal skills
7. Experience in ocular motility and paediatric vision assessment will be highly regarded; however an interest and willingness to learn these skills will certainly be taken into consideration as we are happy to teach!
