Play a pivotal part in leading the strategic and operational management of our Engine and APU assets

It's all part of the day job as a Jetstar Engineer – whether you're on the frontline as a Maintenance Engineer or in our Engineering Corporate & Support Team ensuring that we land deadlines, keep projects on track and work as a team to help us transform our fleet for the better.
Your Opportunity
We're currently seeking an experiencedPowerplant Fleet Manager.
This position is a critical leadership opportunity within our Engineering team responsible for Jetstar's asset cost along with an ongoing critical focus on complex safety components combined with providing innovative leadership to our team of technical experts.
Reporting to ourSenior Fleet Engineering Managerand serving as a key member of the Fleet Technical Management Leadership Team, your success in this role will hinge on your ability to balance the day-to-day operational demands with a strategic focus on continuous improvement, while fostering a team culture centred on performance, safety, and customer service.
You'll Be Responsible For
Asset Management: Lead the management of Jetstar's engine and APU fleet, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and lifecycle cost control.
Team Leadership: Provide strategic direction and day-to-day leadership to the Powerplant Engineering team, fostering a high-performance culture.
Customer Fleet Support: Oversee powerplant support for customer fleets, ensuring alignment with contractual obligations and operational excellence.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all Instructions for Continuing Airworthiness (ICA) are thoroughly assessed and implemented across the fleet.
Safety Oversight: Monitor global fleet trends to identify emerging safety threats and implement proactive mitigation strategies.
Modification Programs: Review and approve engine and APU modification programs to enhance safety, reliability, and performance.
Commercial Interface: Act as the primary technical liaison for powerplant-related commercial matters, including engine and APU overhaul programs.
Project Delivery: Manage business-as-usual (BAU) projects related to powerplant operations across Jetstar and customer fleets.
Operational Support: Serve as the key technical contact for complex engine/APU defect resolution, minimizing operational disruptions and ensuring asset availability.
Warranty Recovery: Support warranty recovery initiatives to maximize commercial returns.
Shop Visit Planning: Develop and oversee engine/APU removal plans and shop visit work scopes, ensuring cost-effective and technically sound outcomes.
Spare Engine Strategy: Provide oversight and decision support for Qantas Group spare engine management.
OEM Engagement: Act as Jetstar's primary point of contact for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), fostering strong partnerships and technical collaboration.
To be successful in this role, ideally you'll have:
Hold a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license and/or Professional engineering qualification – ideally coupled with Tertiary qualifications in Engineering Management, Aviation, or a related field
Demonstrated understanding of process improvement and problem solving methodologies, such as Lean Six Sigma
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
A superior customer focus – capable of identifying customer needs and resolving customer issues
Strong negotiations skills, with ability to effectively analyse and utilise insights to support decision making and improvements
Confidence in communicated and presenting to a range of senior stakeholders
A strong track record of successfully delivering projects through applying your deep understanding of project management methodologies and techniques
A genuine interest in leading others and creating a high performance, innovative team
