**About You**
You will be a skilled and qualified carpenter who has suitable industry and training experience with relevant background and knowledge to fill the position of full time Vocational Trainer based at the Acacia Prison in Wooroloo.
You are a passionate and dedicated individual who excels in challenging situations where you are required to manage a diverse group of individuals with varied and complex needs. You will have the ability to adapt your training style to meet your audience needs and deliver in a clear concise manner. You have a commitment to driving positive change and support all individuals with a non-judgemental attitude.
**About the Role**
The role is committed to provide prisoners with opportunity, skill and experience which enhances their opportunity to gain employment on release from custody. Employment is a significant factor in reducing the risk of recidivism on a person's release from custody.
- To be successful in this role, you will have:_
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment
- Relevant qualification (Certificate II, III or IV) in carpentry ,construction
- Industry experience in in the relevant area of qualification
- Minimum 1-year experience working within a training environment
- Experience working with adult learners or in a correctional environment (desirable)
- Basic knowledge and understanding of the Standards for RTOs
- Cultural awareness including understanding the impact and management of different ethnic backgrounds, customs and contemporary issues
- Ability to effectively communicate in both oral and written forms
- Ability to interact with various stakeholders and adapt communication style
- Ability to plan, organise and deliver structured courses to adult learners
