Your Opportunity
We are seeking a Registered Nurse to coordinate and deliver community-based withdrawal support for clients in the Withdrawal Support Program. You will work closely with the on-site withdrawal counsellor and local General Practitioners to provide safe, evidence-informed care during withdrawal and support clients' transition into ongoing recovery programs.
This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, with no weekend or night shifts. The contract runs until June 2026, with the possibility of extension. The position ranges from $54-$58 per hour plus Superannuation and access to salary packaging up to $15,900 per year to help maximise your take-home pay.
What we are looking for
Bringing experience in the AOD, Mental Health or Aged Care sector – you will have the clinical knowledge to support clients undergoing mild-to-moderate AOD withdrawal and support early stages of their recovery journey. Key duties include:
* Providing intake support and facilitating a smooth transition for clients into the Withdrawal Support Program, including clinical assessments and orientation.
* Monitoring clients' physical and psychological health throughout their withdrawal process, including daily check-ups and vital signs.
* Collaborating with General Practitioners to develop and implement shared care plans.
* Managing medication administration and governance, ensuring safe storage, accurate documentation, and compliance with relevant legislation.
* Supporting clients with risk management for ambulatory withdrawal at home, ensuring safety measures and appropriate supports are in place.
* Facilitating referrals to residential programs or hospital care when community withdrawal is not suitable.
* Initiating and nurturing connections within the local community – you'll be confident developing trust with GPs and helping to connect clients with local services.
* Providing education and counselling support around safe detox and withdrawal, including engaging clients in motivational conversations to encourage ongoing recovery.
You will need to have a tertiary qualification in Nursing and hold current AHPRA registration.
