What does it mean to be an Emergency Foster Carer? An Emergency Foster Carer provides a safe and nurturing home environment for children and teenagers who are in need of temporary care due to unforeseen circumstances. The role of an Emergency Foster Carer is to provide short-term care, usually up to four weeks, and support the child or teenager through this challenging time. Caregivers must be able to demonstrate kindness, respect, resilience, patience and compassion in their interactions with the child or teenager in their care. This may involve providing emotional support, creating a sense of security and stability, and facilitating connections with family members or other support networks. Caregivers must also be able to work collaboratively with other professionals involved in the child's life, such as social workers, teachers and healthcare providers.
