Athletic Trainer
Position available for the 2026‐2027 school year at Hobart High School.
Position Summary
To support the health, safety, and well‐being of student‐athletes by providing athletic training services, including injury prevention, evaluation, emergency care, treatment support, rehabilitation coordination, return‐to‐play support, health education, recordkeeping, and communication across stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide athletic training services for student‐athletes in district programs, covering injury prevention, risk reduction, evaluation, care, and rehabilitation support.
* Assist with athletic health care procedures, emergency action plans, injury management protocols, and return‐to‐play procedures in coordination with the Athletic Director, school administration, coaches, physicians, and other personnel.
* Deliver immediate care, first aid, and emergency response for injuries and illnesses during practices, contests, conditioning sessions, and other athletic activities.
* Evaluate injuries and illnesses within the scope of professional practice, determining appropriate care, referral, restriction, or follow‐up in accordance with procedures, physician direction, and district expectations.
* Coordinate communication concerning injuries with parents/guardians, coaches, administrators, school health personnel, physicians, emergency medical services, and other health‐care providers.
* Support rehabilitation, reconditioning, and return‐to‐participation processes, monitoring progress and documenting status.
* Maintain accurate records related to evaluations, treatments, rehabilitation activities, referrals, physician notes, return‐to‐play documentation, emergency care, inventory, and required documentation.
* Maintain the athletic training room, equipment, supplies, and related areas in a safe, clean, organized, and professional manner.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
* Valid Indiana athletic trainer license.
* Current certification through the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer, or ability to obtain and maintain certification as required.
* Current CPR/AED certification.
* Ability to provide services within the scope of professional licensure and certification.
* Knowledge of athletic training principles, injury prevention, emergency care, rehabilitation practices, return‐to‐play procedures, concussion management, heat illness prevention, sudden cardiac arrest awareness, and student‐athlete health and safety needs.
* Ability to maintain accurate records, communicate effectively with students, parents, coaches, administrators, physicians, emergency personnel, and school staff, remaining calm and decisive in emergency or time‐sensitive situations.
* Ability to use district technology platforms, documentation systems, communication tools, and software applications for recordkeeping, scheduling, communication, and reporting.
Preferred
* Successful prior experience providing athletic training services in a school, collegiate, clinical, or athletic setting.
* Experience working with student‐athletes, coaches, parents, physicians, and school personnel.
Terms of Employment
Salary and benefits as defined by the School City of Hobart and applicable employment agreement.
Work schedule shall be determined by the needs of the Athletics Department and may include afternoons, evenings, weekends, holidays, practices, contests, tournaments, summer conditioning, and other athletic events as assigned.

Physical Demands
Employee must stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, move throughout indoor and outdoor athletic facilities, respond quickly to injuries or emergencies, reach, handle equipment, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, balance, push, pull, or assist with injured student‐athletes, occasionally lift 50 pounds, and work in varied conditions (blood, bodily fluids, chemicals, noise, crowds, weather).
