Position Details
Head of Learning Area – The Arts
The Head of Learning Area – Arts has responsibility for the curriculum and its delivery to students in Years 7-12, works collaboratively with the College's Curriculum Board and leads a vibrant team of teachers who are involved in a number of different disciplines.
Specifically, the incumbent will be responsible for promoting a curriculum in Upper School that meets the requirements of the School Curriculum and Standards Authority and one in Lower School that is guided by the requirements of School Curriculum and Standards Authority and the West Australian Curriculum.
The Head of Learning Area – Arts leads the areas of Art, Dance, Design, Drama and Music. The Head of Learning Area is responsible for the assessment policy and ensures that it is understood by staff, students, and parents. As part of this role the Head of Learning Area records and monitors student progress, ensures consistency with regard to the assessing of work, conducts regular meetings with the Arts Department Staff and is responsible for all aspects of the teaching and learning that occur within this Learning Area.
The Head of Learning Area – Arts nurtures the development of the Arts Department's staff members offering particular attention to teachers who are new to Nagle Catholic College and to teaching.
In addition to this leadership component, there is a teaching component. The incumbent would be expected to be highly proficient in their specialist area.
Qualifications Required
* Minimum of a Diploma of Education
* Current registration with Teachers Registration Board Western Australia
* Current Working With Children Check
* Willingness to obtain Accreditation for Middle Leaders in Catholic Schools
