The Team
Smithton District Hospital (SDH) is a small sized sub-acute public hospital located in Smithton, Tasmania. It services the whole Circular Head region with a catchment population of 8,000 people.
The Hospital has 12 sub-acute beds accommodating general medicine, post-acute, palliative and end-of-life care. We have a 3‐bay Emergency First Response unit staffed by nurses and General Practitioners (Rural Medical Practitioners) who are contracted to provide on‐call medical services. No surgery is performed at this hospital.
SDH offers outpatient services including low‐risk chemotherapy and supportive treatments for cancer patients, blood products and iron transfusions for acute and chronic conditions.
SDH also provides twice‐weekly midwifery (antenatal) clinics.
The Role
* Clean allocated areas of the hospital and staff accommodation, in accordance with infection control standards, policies and processes.
* Assist in food preparation, delivery and cleaning within the kitchen area, maintaining high standards of food safety guidelines.
You will need
* Knowledge of "food safe" guidelines, preparation and presentation of meals.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the provision of cleaning procedures in health‐related organisations.
* Demonstrated knowledge of infection control processes in relation to laundry and cleaning services.
* Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision, together with capacity to exercise initiative and judgement in the resolution of day‐to‐day problems.
* An understanding of appropriate Work Health and Safety legislation and codes of practice.
* Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement programmes and a commitment to participate in development programmes as required.

Details of appointment
Fixed term, casual, position working as and when required, commencing as soon as possible for approximately 12 months. Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant. Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full‐time, part‐time, and casual vacancies.
Salary
$57,130 to $62,486 per annum (pro rata). Our employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
