Role Overview:
NSW Government organisation is undertaking an enterprise-wide uplift to improve how business processes are documented, owned, maintained and continuously improved. This role will lead the establishment of a central process repository, uplift the organisation's approach to process design and documentation, and embed sustainable ways of working that support delivery, governance and continuous improvement. The role blends process leadership, technical acumen, and delivery capability, and is suited to someone who sits comfortably between business and technology, with the ability to drive outcomes rather than simply produce documentation. As Process Lead, you will work across the organisation to bring together fragmented process artefacts into a single view of truth, define practical standards and frameworks, and deliver tangible uplift while the capability is still being built.
Key Objectives
Establish a single enterprise repository for business process documentation
Lead the documentation of core organisational processes in a fit-for-purpose manner
Define and embed new ways of working for how processes are governed, maintained and improved
Balance documentation with practical delivery and measurable improvement outcomes
Support leadership decision-making through improved visibility and prioritisation of process areas
Enable ongoing process maturity rather than a one-off documentation exercise
Key Responsibilities
Process Leadership & Strategy
Lead the design and rollout of an enterprise-wide process management approach
Shape how the organisation documents, governs and improves processes at scale
Establish consistent standards for process modelling, ownership and lifecycle management
Define operating models for how process ownership works across business units
Delivery & Execution
Own the implementation of the central process repository
Drive documentation of priority processes through sprint-based delivery
Balance foundational documentation with continuous improvement delivery
Deliver incrementally and demonstrate value along the way
Adapt delivery approach in response to leadership priorities and organisational readiness
Stakeholder Engagement
Work closely with senior leaders, business owners and subject matter experts
Influence without reliance on formal authority
Manage competing priorities across functions
Build buy-in for pragmatic and sustainable process practices
Governance & Continuous Improvement
Define controls for quality, governance and maintenance of process artefacts
Establish feedback loops and measurement practices
Ensure the repository remains relevant, usable and valuable long-term
Enable transition from implementation to a mature process capability
Skills & Experience
Essential
Proven leadership in enterprise process transformation
Experience implementing process repositories / BPM platforms
Strong delivery background across large, complex organisations
Demonstrated ability to balance documentation with real-world outcomes
Deep understanding of process design, modelling and governance
Experience working within matrixed organisations
Ability to influence across technical, business and executive audiences
Comfortable operating where priorities shift and ambiguity exists
Desirable
Experience in financial services, insurance or regulated environments
Exposure to BPMN and enterprise architecture concepts
Familiarity with sprint-based or agile delivery models
Experience operating at transformation / enterprise level rather than team-level only
