Make an Impact in Workplace Safety
We are seeking a proactive and practical WHS Advisor to help drive a strong safety culture across our organisation. In this role, you will be the key link between our safety strategy and frontline operations, providing guidance, coaching and support to leaders and teams.
Your work will directly contribute to the safety and wellbeing of both our employees and the people we support.
This role is responsible for locations between Mareeba and Ayr, and regular travel to sites is a core requirement.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Provide day-to-day WHS advice and support to Site Managers, Supervisors and team membersConduct risk assessments, workplace inspections and site audits in partnership with site teamsLead hazard identification, incident reporting and ensure corrective actions are implementedSupport incident investigations, including assisting WHS Specialists with root-cause analysisMaintain WHS documentation, emergency management plans and Fire Safety Advisor requirementsDeliver toolbox talks and WHS awareness activities and assist with safety trainingContribute to the development and improvement of WHS policies, procedures and initiativesPrepare WHS reports, data insights and metrics to support proactive safety managementBuild strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders, including regulators
About You
You are a hands-on WHS professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams. You build trust easily, communicate clearly, and take a practical approach to managing risk and improving workplace safety.
You are organised, proactive and confident supporting leaders and teams through coaching, mentoring and safety guidance.
What You'll Bring
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Previous experience in a WHS Advisor or similar safety roleCertificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or related qualification)Fire Safety Advisor qualification (QLD) or willingness to obtainSolid knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management and hazard identificationExperience conducting incident investigations and applying root-cause methodologies (e.g. ICAM or Taproot – desirable)Experience undertaking workplace inspections, audits and investigationsStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to implement practical safety solutionsProficiency in Microsoft Office and preparing WHS documentation and reportsExcellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships at all levelsA current Driver's Licence and willingness to travel regularly between sites
You will be required to undertake a \"Fit2Work\" National Criminal History Check and hold or be willing to obtain a Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
