About the Role
The Human Resources (HR) and Compliance Coordinator supports the quality delivery of support services at Able Community Support Services (Able CSS). Working closely with the Director and senior leadership, the role ensures the organisation recruits staff efficiently, and in compliance with the Fair Work Act, and complies with the NDIS Practice Standards and relevant guidelines, while promoting continuous improvement. The position is responsible for assisting with recruitment and induction of staff, maintaining appropriate documentation, and monitoring compliance across human resource law and regulations and the NDIS Practice Standards. The HR and Compliance Coordinator role is part of a dynamic and growing organisation that has made and continues to make a difference in the life of people living with a disability.
Key Responsibilities
Role specific:
1. Human Resources
· Coordination of key HR processes including recruitment and induction of employees.
· Assist Management staff with the recruitment and onboarding of new staff, including advertising new roles, reviewing applications, interviewing candidates, and onboarding staff.
· Checking and confirming 'right to work' requirements, including visa requirements and worker suitability checks such as Working With Children Check (Blue Card) and Disability Worker Check (Yellow Card), and validating qualifications.
· Assisting the Director with payroll processing and compliance, including keeping accurate time and pay records.
1. Compliance & Reporting Support
· Assist the Director and Operations Manager in managing compliance under the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013
· Monitor registers and compliance logs (e.g., service delivery data, incidents, training, policy reviews, and feedback) and escalate issues to ensure maintenance of compliance.
· Support the timely preparation of reports for government and funding agencies.
· Assist in coordinating internal audits, supporting continuous improvement and risk mitigation.
· Track corrective actions from external audits or internal assessments and monitor follow-up processes.
· Maintain a calendar for compliance activities and help ensure documentation is prepared for regulatory review.
2. Quality Assurance & Documentation Management
· Implement and maintain quality assurance systems, ensuring alignment with relevant legislation, national standards, funding obligations, and workplace health and safety frameworks.
· Monitor administrative documentation and service delivery records to ensure accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance.
· Maintain hard and digital copies of employee records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
· Prepare for and assist in accreditation and audit processes (e.g., Child Safe Standards, NDIS Practice Standards).
· Assist with developing and reviewing internal policies and procedures.
3. Staff development
· Supporting the induction and training of staff, and ongoing professional development.
· Develop and deliver training to staff, including staff inductions.
· Maintain training records.
General

· Training - undertake relevant upskilling and training as required or directed.
· Compliance - carry out work in accordance with the current policies and procedures of Able CSS, service specific legislation, common law, and funding agreement guidelines.
· Compliance - Adhere to relevant legislation and mandatory obligations pertaining to adults and children, Child Protection legislation, legal responsibilities for reporting Participants and children at risk.
· Self-management - recognise and monitor job stress and personal needs as a worker and take active responsibility for your own wellbeing in the workplace.
Other duties as indicated by the Director.
Role requirements:
This role requires a proactive, collaborative leader who is passionate about supporting the quality delivery of high-quality, person-centred support to person living with disability.
Essential
1. Experience and Knowledge
· Demonstrated experience in quality assurance, compliance, or HR administration within the community services sector, ideally in a NDIS service provider setting.
· Human Resources or Community Services related qualifications, with a focus on Human Resources or Quality and Compliance.
2. Skills and Attributes
· Strong skills in policy and procedure development, documentation control, and report writing.
· Excellent attention to detail with the ability to track deliverables, prepare compliance data, and maintain registers.
3. Values and Cultural Capability
· Commitment to trauma-informed, person-centred, strengths-based practice.
· Ability to work respectfully with people with disabilities, their families, and other supports.
4. Technology and Communication
· Competency in using Microsoft Office Suite and digital business management tools (e.g. Bright HR, Visual Care.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to support functional teams.
Desirable
· Lived experience or previous employment in a disability service provider or community services setting.
· Familiarity with regulatory standards and frameworks such as the NDIS Practice Standards.
· Working knowledge of the Queensland WHS requirements.
Other requirements
· Current QLD Driver's Licence.
· National Police Clearance, Disability Worker Check, and Working With Children Check.
· Respect for and understanding of disability community expectations.
Additional Information
· Attention to detail is a strong element of this role, both in HR record keeping and general organisation compliance.
· There may be times where additional hours, or meetings and other work outside normal hours is required to complete activities associated with the role, and it is an expectation of the organisation that you assist in fulfilling obligations when considered necessary. Payment for such work will be according to the relevant award conditions.
