Job Title: AGS Lawyer and Senior Lawyer

Responsibilities
Delivery of Legal Services: Lawyers (APS5 and APS6) and Senior Lawyers (EL1 and EL2) are responsible for delivering high-quality legal services under the supervision of senior practitioners.
Lawyers at APS Level 6 handle moderately complex legal matters with general supervision, providing detailed technical and professional advice and assisting in strategic planning and project management.
The scope of work includes litigation, commercial advisings, advocacy, and client outposts.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
Develop and maintain client relationships, understand client needs, and deliver outstanding client service.
Apply AGS Client Care expectations and support the delivery of new services.
Engage with courts, tribunals, the legal profession, and commercial and professional organizations as relevant to specific roles.
Achieve personal financial targets that contribute to the commercial business success of the practice group.
Engage with client instructing areas in relation to legal matters and manage billing arrangements.
Professional Development:
Further develop professional legal expertise through participation in development, training, and study opportunities.
Meet Continuing Legal Education requirements and other expectations.
Team Collaboration and Supervision:
Work collaboratively with team leaders, senior executive lawyers, and other practice group members.
Supervise and support other practice group members, contributing to setting work priorities and monitoring workflow for legal support staff as required.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure compliance with APS Code of Conduct and apply departmental policies in work health and safety, diversity, discrimination, and harassment.
Education and Experience
Qualifications:
Entry in the Register of Practitioners of the High Court of Australia or the roll of barristers and solicitors of the Supreme Court of a State or Territory.
Australian Citizenship is required.
Experience:
For a Lawyer (APS5), generally at least 1-4 years of relevant post-admission experience (PAE) or equivalent legal experience and knowledge of the Commonwealth legal environment.
For a Lawyer (APS6), generally at least years of relevant PAE or equivalent legal experience and knowledge of the Commonwealth legal environment.
For a Senior Lawyer (EL1), generally at least 5 years or more PAE and good knowledge of the Commonwealth legal environment.
For a Senior Lawyer (EL2), generally at least 7 years or more PAE and good knowledge of the Commonwealth legal environment.
Salary
Commercially competitive remuneration packages, including superannuation.
