Legal Assistant - Public Law 12 month contract

About the role
Join our passionate and supportive Public Law team in Sydney as a Legal Assistant in this 12 month contract This is a fantastic opportunity providing essential administrative and secretarial support to a partner and fee earners. In this position, you'll play a key role in managing and supporting our lawyers lead our diverse portfolio of Local, State, and Commonwealth Government clients and private clients.
The role offers plenty of variety including:
* Creating, drafting, editing and formatting a range of legal correspondence and documents including tender bundles and briefs to counsel
* Assisting with project managing files including drafting cost agreements, monitoring fee estimates and client reporting
* End to end monthly billing including timesheets, and bill finalisation
* Handling court diaries and lawyers calendars
* Coordinating meetings and internal/external functions and events
* Opening/closing matters including e-filing and physical archiving via Aderant Expert and iManage
* Arranging travel and reconciling expenses on a monthly basis
About you
We're looking for a proactive team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and consistently exceeds expectations. With at least 3 years of experience in a similar role within a private practice law firm, you'll bring a strong work ethic, enthusiasm, and excellent communication and organisational skills to the team.
Other key skills you'll bring include:
* A solid understanding of litigious procedures and legal terminology
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
* Experience with Aderant Expert for billing (advantageous)
* Ability to produce accurate, high-quality work under tight deadlines
* A high level of professionalism, initiative, and a can-do attitude
