What You'll Be Doing

The Royal Hospital for Women is a multi-faceted tertiary referral and teaching hospital, internationally recognised as one of the world’s leading centres for the care of mothers, babies, and women with benign gynaecological and gynae-oncology conditions. Part of the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD), the hospital is co-located with other major facilities on the Randwick Hospitals Campus—one of the State’s most comprehensive health care precincts. The Registered Nurse/Midwife coordinates and delivers high quality nursing care to patients of the Newborn Care Centre, Royal Hospital for Women consistent with SESLHD policies, procedures and standards.

Selection Criteria

- Current registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery and to guide others in providing service excellence.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
- Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Registered Nurse/Midwife in applying these principles.
- Demonstrated commitment to the NSW Health Breastfeeding Policy and the BFHI Principles’.
- Recent post registration clinical experience in a paediatric or acute care setting.
