Potential total package value of $341,918 to $450,433.86 dependent on the level of experience and participation.

Full Time Indicative Base Package Value: $341,918 to $450,433.86. (Pro Rata part time)

Indicative Base Package inclusive of

l Base Salary $204,936 to $274,696

l Superannuation (12.5%)

l Private Practice Allowance – Radiology Scheme

l Professional development allowances

l On-call allowance 17.5%

l Mobile Phone allowance

l Generous leave provisions, including up to 4 weeks training/education leave and up to 5 weeks annual leave per annum

l Annual Leave Loading 17.5%

About the Role:

Position Overview

The Canberra Hospital (TCH) is a 676-bed hospital which provides secondary and tertiary level care to the population of the Australian Capital Territory, and tertiary care to Southern New South Wales, covering an extended population of close to a million people. It is the trauma centre for the region, and the Neurosciences Centre for the region with a 24/7 interventional stroke service. All major medical and surgical specialities are represented on site except for transplant surgery. In addition, paediatric and obstetric and gynaecological services are provided.

The Medical Imaging Department at CHS operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The service provides diagnostic imaging, interventional radiology and nuclear medicine services to patients in Canberra and the Southeast Region of NSW. There is ongoing growth of TCH Medical Imaging Department, most recently with the opening of the new Critical Services Building (Building 5) which contains 3 x CT, 1 x 3.0T MRI, 1 x 1.5T MRI, 3 x ultrasound rooms, and 3 x specialised Interventional Radiology Angiography Suites including a hybrid CT-Angio suite.

The Medical Imaging Department is the primary training site for 22 Radiology registrars. Successful applicants will be rostered alongside registrars and expected to contribute to teaching and training, as well as playing a role in quality assurance.

Research links are maintained with the Australian National University (ANU), University of Canberra and the Australian Catholic University. The Canberra Hospital has well-developed postgraduate teaching programmes. A fully equipped library is also available at the Canberra Hospital and North Canberra Hospital locations.

The preferred candidate may apply to be considered for a conjoint position with the ANU at an academic level commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The academic position will be held for the duration of CHS employment and is subject to regular performance reviews. This position is required to support the Medical Imaging Department in the provision of a 24-hour, seven day a week service and includes on-call duties. Several remunerated extra shifts are available every weekend.

The successful candidate will also be rostered to shifts based outside of the Canberra Hospital precinct (e.g., University of Canberra Hospital, North Canberra Hospital and Weston Creek Imaging Service).

Advanced/Subspecialty skills in Nuclear Medicine /PET/Theranostics, Head & Neck Imaging, Neuroradiology, Body Imaging, Chest Imaging, Paediatric Radiology and Cardiac MRI are particularly desirable to support our clinical specialists.

The Medical Imaging Department forms part of the CHS Medical Services Group which also includes Pharmacy, Healthcare Technology Management, the Prevocational Education and Training, the Medical Officer Support, Credentialling, Employment and Training Unit (MOSCETU), the GP Liaison Unit (GPLUI), ACT Blood Counts Program and the CHS Library and Multimedia services

Strong research links are maintained with the ANU, University of Canberra and the Australian Catholic University. All specialties are represented with the exception of organ transplantation. The hospital has well developed post graduate teaching programs. A fully equipped medical library is available on site with a large collection of hard copy and on line journals and textbooks.

l Hold Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency

l Meet credentialing requirements and receive an Endorsed scope of clinical practice from the Medical Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC)

l Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.

l Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.
