Position Title: Team Leader – SIL House
Award: SCHADS Award **** (MA ) – Social and Community Services Employee Level 3
Reports To: SIL Manager / Director
Location: Pearson's Services – Various SIL houses
1. Purpose of the Role
The Team Leader provides on-site coordination, oversight, and support within a Supported Independent Living (SIL) house. This position ensures that participant care, documentation, and safety standards are maintained to the highest level, and that all staff are supported to deliver consistent, person-centred services.
2. Key Responsibilities
Participant Care
Oversee the daily supports provided to participants, ensuring safety, dignity, and independence.
Ensure all participant documentation (One Folder, My Health Folder, emergency plans, and risk assessments) is complete and current.
Support mentors to implement NDIS goals and individual care plans.
House Audits and Compliance
Assist with house audits, ensuring all areas meet compliance and safety standards.
Assist follow up on corrective actions.
Medication Oversight
Ensure medication documentation is accurate and consistent.
Check Webster packs, GP-signed lists, and sign-off sheets for each participant.
Confirm correct handling and administration of Schedule 8 (S8) medications.
Staff Support and Orientation
Conduct house orientations for all new mentors, including daily routines, documentation, and safety expectations.
Communicate effectively with the SIL Manager about staff performance, training needs, or concerns.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain accurate records and escalate concerns or missing information to management.
Contribute to participant reviews and updates as required.
Teamwork and Communication
Build positive working relationships and promote a respectful, supportive team culture.
Encourage open communication and problem-solving within the house team.
Uphold professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times.
Report any concerns to the SIL Manager or Director.
3. Person Specification
Qualifications and Checks
NDIS Worker Screening Check (mandatory)
Working with Children Check (mandatory)
First Aid and CPR (current)
Valid driver's licence
Desirable: Certificate III or IV in Disability, Community Services, or related field
Experience and Knowledge
Minimum 1–2 years' experience in disability or supported accommodation environments.
Understanding of NDIS Practice Standards, risk management, and participant rights.
Experience coordinating supports or acting as a shift leader/team leader preferred.
Strong understanding of medication administration, documentation, and compliance procedures.
Skills and Attributes

4. Accountability
The Team Leader reports directly to the SIL Manager / Director and is accountable for:
Ensuring participant documentation and risk management remain current.
Conducting fortnightly audits and reporting issues immediately.
Inducting and supporting mentors to maintain compliance and care standards.
Escalating incidents, health issues, or behavioural concerns promptly.
Promoting a safe, positive, and compliant environment at all times.
5. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
100% completion of fortnightly house audits on time.
All participant documentation current and accessible in One Folder and Brevity.
No overdue medication or risk documentation.
New staff oriented within 48 hours of starting.
Prompt escalation of risks and incidents within required timeframes.
Positive staff feedback and participant outcomes.
