This key position of Laboratory Technician will report directly to the Quality Assurance Manager and will assist the team in making the necessary improvements required to this essential business function.
Our ideal candidate will have 3 years prior experience in quality assurance and laboratory practices, preferably in the timber industry, be adaptable, and self-motivated, have the desire to reach their goals, and can work effectively with others to achieve great results. Our Neerabup plant operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and you will generally be working Monday through Friday 40 hours per week, however occasional weekend and night shift work may be required.
Your duties will include:
* Assisting with the implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS).
* QC equipment calibration, repair, and management.
* Assistance in QMS document preparation and updating.
* Assistance in QC testing including production and raw materials.
* Sample preparation and dispatch for external QC verification.
* Assisting with R&D work.
* QC administrative work including data entry and analysis.
* Lab housekeeping.
Essential Selection Criteria:
* Preferred 3+ years of experience within a similar role.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* A focus on safe and efficient operational protocols.
* Computer literate in Microsoft Office applications.
* The ability to work effectively within a team.
* Strong time management skills are essential, and the ability to multitask and work towards achieving strict deadlines.
* The role will require testing and handling of wood samples.
* Current High-Risk Forklift License desirable, but not essential.
* Formal qualifications highly desirable (i.e. certificate 4 in Good Laboratory Practices / Quality Systems or equivalent.
Essential Requirements:
* Proof of Australian working rights.
* Current National Police Clearance.
* Ability to complete a comprehensive Pre-Employment Medical, including a drug and alcohol screening with the company's provider.
