Team and Role Overview
The Data Operations and Products function is located within the Office of the Chief Data and Analytics Officer (OCDAO) at Comcare. The function provides specialist reporting and analytics capability to the organisation as well as acting as a data 'front door' for requests raised by stakeholders across Comcare. Our work supports evidence-based decision making and provides insight into emerging risks and trends to support Comcare's purpose of promoting and enabling safe and healthy work. As the Assistant Director, Data Operations, you will lead a team responsible for the key reporting requirements and continuous improvement in data-related processes. You will oversee business as usual (BAU) reporting, periodic statutory reporting, and the operational management of business intelligence platforms. This position will also require the maintenance and development of new and existing BI reports where necessary. This position requires strong people leadership skills, problem solving skills, coupled with technical expertise to manage critical data and reporting processes in OCDAO's overall service provision. You will work closely with key stakeholders to also respond to internal and external requests requiring data and analysis outcomes and internal technical teams to support our analytics capability uplift.
The key duties of the position include
The key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Lead and manage the Data Operations team to ensure delivery of recurring, statutory and operational reporting services across the organisation.
* Provide oversight and expert guidance on the operational management of enterprise BI platforms where required (e.g. Business Objects, Power BI Service), including workspace management, access controls, semantic model revisions and report maintenance.
* Monitor and assure data integrity and report accuracy through structured validation, reconciliation and quality assurance processes.
* Drive the decommissioning of legacy reporting assets and support controlled migration of reports into the modern BI environment in alignment with enterprise data strategy.
* Address and respond to work requests to extract data and produce analysis output under broad direction and present meaningful and relevant results to stakeholders.
* Provide expert technical leadership and guidance to the Data Operations sub-unit on the development of analytics and reporting solutions through relevant expertise (e.g. Power BI, SQL etc.).
* Build effective working relationships with other technical teams to ensure clear handover between product development and operational support functions.
* Develop and implement automation strategies to reduce manual reporting processes and improve operational efficiency.
* Recommend innovative solutions and identify opportunities for continuous improvement in the quality and efficiency of data analysis and reporting processes.
* Lead and support work prioritisation of requests triaged from the Data Operating Model.
Desirable qualifications and experience
* Recognised tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. business, statistics, information technology) from an Australian tertiary institution or a comparable overseas institution or demonstrated equivalent experience.
* A minimum of 2+ years' experience in the delivery of enterprise data and analytics products.
* Demonstrated experience in developing and leading high‐performing teams.
