About This Role
We are seeking a Commissioning Superintendent for a large-scale Decarbonisation Infrastructure Project in the Pilbara. The role supports low‑emissions energy and electrified infrastructure on a 2:1 FIFO roster from Perth, with an initial 5‑day Perth‑based week to support commissioning of the Arena charger.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage all commissioning activities in line with project, operational, and regulatory requirements
* Plan, coordinate, and allocate commissioning resources including engineers, trades, vendors, and specialist personnel
* Review and approve Inspection and Test Records (C1‑C5), Construction Verification Certificates, and readiness documentation
* Manage Commissioning Work Packs, drawings, and documentation in accordance with CMS, SDRL, and CDMS requirements
* Develop, review, and approve Commissioning Test Procedures and support Operational Test Procedures
* Define systemisation boundaries, start‑up sequences, and commissioning pathways
* Oversee FAT, SAT, and onsite commissioning testing alignment
* Lead commissioning of HV electrical systems, protection systems, SCADA, load and charger management systems, and network integration
* Plan and execute safe energisation activities, including HV isolations, permits, and switching plans
* Identify, assess, and manage commissioning risks through HAZOPs, TBRAs, CRAWs, and SIMOPS planning
* Approve Notices of Energisation, discipline acceptance certificates, and HV switching documentation
* Conduct punch list walk‑downs and ensure timely close‑out of defects and incomplete works
* Oversee change management during commissioning, ensuring impacts are assessed and approved
* Work closely with construction teams to support handover and transition to commissioning
* Coordinate with operations teams for switching, asset handover, and operational readiness
* Ensure High Voltage Operators and SMEs are trained, authorised, and ready for commissioning activities
* Provide clear reporting on commissioning progress, risks, and readiness
* Ensure all activities align with safety regulations, Australian standards, and codes of practice
Requirements
* WA A Grade Electrical licence
* High Voltage Switching certificate
* Current CPR/LVR and First Aid certificate
* Valid Driver's Licence (Minimum C Class)
* Certificate IV in Instrumentation
* 10+ years post‑trade experience, with 5+ years in a superintendent role
* Extensive experience in commissioning leadership roles on large‑scale electrical, energy, or infrastructure projects, specifically renewable energy, electrification projects
* Proven experience leading safe energisation and high‑voltage commissioning activities
* Strong technical knowledge of high‑voltage distribution networks, protection systems, and control systems
* Demonstrated experience with SCADA, protection relays, load management systems, and network integration
* Proven capability working with Commissioning Management Systems (CMS), systemisation, and commissioning documentation
* Strong knowledge of Australian electrical standards, regulations, and permitting requirements
* Experience managing SIMOPS within complex construction and operational environments
* Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
