About the Role
As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Workshop Fitter / Machinist to join our high-performing team in Port Hedland, Western Australia.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for:
* Completing assigned work to required quality standards and within agreed timeframes
* Interpreting job specifications, technical drawings and schematics
* Operating heavy machinery, hand tools, lifting equipment and related workshop gear
* Producing sketches or fabricating parts in accordance with drawings
* Maintaining tools, equipment and the work area to a high standard
* Accurately completing documentation and service records
* Providing guidance and mentoring to apprentices as needed
* Carrying out general mechanical fitting duties
* Working safely and in accordance with all WHS procedures
* Repairing and reconditioning hydraulic cylinders used in various applications
* Disassembling, inspecting, measuring and reporting on component condition
* Assembling and testing cylinders while maintaining proper documentation and service records
What You Need to Succeed
To be considered, you will bring:
* A relevant trade qualification: Machinist or First-Class Machinist
* Experience in a workshop environment with sound machining process knowledge
* Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings
* Competency operating manual lathes and milling machines
* High accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to work to fine tolerances
* Skills in internal and external screw cutting, boring and grooving
* Experience machining a wide range of materials
* A forklift ticket and MIG welding experience (desirable)
* Strong communication, time management and organisational abilities
* A valid driver's licence, personal transport and a demonstrated safety-first approach
