About the Role
As an Assistant Project Officer, you will provide essential project and administrative support to ensure disaster adaptation and mitigation projects are delivered efficiently and meet quality standards. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing project and operational support, including monitoring and reporting on project plans, milestones, and deliverables to ensure alignment with approved timelines and budgets.
- Updating and maintaining documentation and records to ensure compliance with project management methodologies.
- Undertaking research and analysis in assigned project areas and contribute to the preparation of project briefs for informed decision-making.
- Assisting the project team in implementing project plans and completing tasks to achieve agreed outcomes.
- Communicating with stakeholders to provide updates on project status and implementation issues.
- Delivering secretariat and administrative services, including coordinating committee meetings and preparing papers to support project delivery.

The Flood, Coastal and Hazard Strategy Branch is the NSW Reconstruction Authority’s central hub of technical hazard specialists, working at the forefront of disaster risk reduction through place-based disaster adaptation planning.

About You

- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, briefs, and stakeholder updates.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining records and documentation.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and build positive relationships with stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with project management tools or methodologies.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and supporting project delivery.
Essential requirements:
- Tertiary qualification and/or relevant knowledge and experience.

About the Agency
The NSW Reconstruction Authority (RA) is an executive agency of the Premier’s Department. The RA will improve how NSW plans for disasters and help communities to recover from them faster.
To reduce the severity and impacts of disasters, the RA will complete critical planning and preparation with communities, NGOs, businesses, and government. When disaster does strike, we will get recovery started swiftly and coordinate reconstruction efforts across agencies, communities, and other stakeholders.
