Hourly: $37.21 - $43.23, including employer's contribution to superannuation and leave loading
About the Role
School Learning Support Officers provide support for children with identified diverse learning needs, including disability, in classrooms and other learning environments under the direction and supervision of a teacher to support the achievement of educational outcomes. This support includes student welfare, health and wellbeing activities as required. School Learning Support Officers may provide specific support for children in preschool, vision support, hearing support, and bilingual settings. Officers working in these streams have additional duties beyond the general duties required of all School Learning Support Officers.
Essential Requirements
* On appointment must be working towards or hold an Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) approved Certificate III in Children's Services or Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
* Working with Children Check clearance.
* Completion of mandatory training required by the Department of Education and willingness to undertake first aid training relevant to the role.
* Training to administer medications based on child's needs.
* Health support training to be provided based on student needs (subject to transition provisions).
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Ability to work with children with emotional, physical or intellectual disabilities.
* Commitment to protecting and promoting the safety, wellbeing and rights of all children.
* Ability to work with young children and awareness of the needs of young children.
* Effective communication skills.
