**About the role**
As a Theatre Technician you will be pivotal for safe and efficient surgeries by preparing the Theatre environment for procedures, and providing oversight of the Theatre equipment, ensuring it's optimal functioning during surgeries. You will also assist with the safe transfer of patients on and off the operating table, patient positioning, transporting patients and equipment, preparing patients prior to operative procedures and cleaning and maintaing the Theatre equipment and environment. You will undertake designated cleaning tasks ensuring high standards of cleanliness (including personal) are maintained, utlising universal standard precautions and as per the GV Health policies and procedures. As a Grade 4 Theatre Technician, you will asisst with training and mentoring of the Grade 1, 2 and 3 Operating Theatre Technicians.
This is an opportunity to demonstrate great team work and clinical skills by contributing to the organisation and management of safe patient care within the Theatre complex. You will be expected to work within all the clinical specialities with a high degree of autonomy and accountability under the direction of the Grade 4 and 5 Theatre Technician.
At GV Health, we provide a range of perioperative services including general surgery, orthopaedic, gynaecology, obstetrics, ENT, urology, dental, endoscopy and paediatrics; with elective surgery. Theatre is scheduled five days per week with shifts comprising a morning (07:30- 18.00) and afternoon (12.00 - 22.30). Weekend emergency activity is supported with a day shift from 08.30 - 18.30.
Currently there are four theatres expanding to six which will provide a brand-new working environment and improved theatre facilities for both our patients and our team.
There are a range of permanent full time and part time roles available to meet your work and lifestyle preferences.
**We are looking for**:
- Certificate IV in Health Service Assistance (Operating Theatre Technical Support) or equivalent qualification.
- At least 12 months clinical experience working as a Theatre Technician
- The ability to work within the clinical specialities provided with a high degree of autonomy and accountability
- Good understanding of basic Infection control principles
- Understands and adheres to confidentiality expectations of GV Health as well as a committment to GV health values of CREATE.
