Overview
The ACT Government is seeking expressions of interest for members of the Board of Inquiry (BOI) being established to inquire into systemic issues in relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander deaths in custody at the Alexander Maconochie Centre.
The BOI is expected to operate between 2026 and 2027.
Desirable skills and experience
It is not a requirement to demonstrate all desirable skills and experiences; however expressions of interest will be assessed against:
* Experience in complex inquiries, reviews, or similar.
* Qualifications or experience in law, corrections or other relevant fields.
* An understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander justice issues, including awareness of issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
* Experience in, or a commitment to, delivering culturally safe and trauma informed practice.
* Demonstrated Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander lived experience or the ability to perform the role informed by those with lived experience.
