Latitude Recruitment is seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Accountant to join a well-established local accounting firm in Mount Gambier, SA. About the Role: This is a flexible, full-time position designed to support a healthy work-life balance. The role offers flexible working hours, the ability to work from home, and a condensed four-day work week with Fridays off. Office opening hours are from 10:00am to 4:00pm. As the role is project based, you will eventually have increased flexibility by managing jobs independently.
You will be supported by a senior mentor who will guide your development towards becoming a self-managed professional. This progression will enable you to independently service a portfolio of clients.
Key Responsibilities
• In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing high-quality accounting services to a broad range of clients. There will be opportunities to build on your skill set and collaborate with an experienced team. The position is designed to fast-track your professional development and expand your capabilities within the field.
• Assist in preparing financial statements, tax returns, and other accounting documents
• Perform bookkeeping tasks, including data entry, reconciliations, and account management
• Liaise with clients to gather information and respond to enquiries
• Collaborate with senior accountants to ensure financial records are accurate and complete
• Participate in the implementation of new accounting software and processes
• Manage lodgement and administration tasks
What We're Looking For
• Current or working towards a tertiary qualification in Accounting or a related field
• 1–3 years' experience in an accounting firm
• Proficiency in Xero and related integrations (ATO Mate, Now Infinity, BGL, DocuSign, Microsoft 365)
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
