A leading Australian Federal Government regulator is seeking an experienced EL1 Assistant Director to join their Data, Risk Analytics & Reporting function. You will be joining a collaborative, high‐performing branch that oversees data collection, analysis, reporting and intelligence to support evidence‐based regulatory decision‐making.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and mentor a team delivering high‐quality data analysis, reporting and insights
* Oversee daily data operations, optimise processes and improve data workflows
* Drive the successful delivery of analytics projects aligned to business needs
* Source, acquire, manage and integrate data to support evidence‐based decision making
* Prepare high‐quality briefs, reports and documentation for internal and external audiences
* Identify trends and emerging issues to inform regulatory and operational strategies
* Contribute to enhancing organisational data capability and best‐practice approaches

* Demonstrated experience leading data analytics or reporting functions
* Strong leadership capability with a focus on building team performance
* Excellent analytical and problem‐solving skills, with the ability to apply critical thinking
* Experience delivering data‐driven solutions that support business objectives
* Ability to engage effectively with internal stakeholders and influence outcomes
* Experience identifying inefficiencies and contributing to continuous improvement
* Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights
* Understanding of regulatory environments (advantageous)
Desirable Qualifications & Skills
* Tertiary qualifications in Data, Information Systems, Computer Science or related fields
* 5+ years' relevant experience
* Knowledge of SQL Server, T‐SQL, Power BI or similar BI/reporting tools
* Experience with Azure DevOps or CI/CD tools
