Situated approximately 230 km west-north-west of Melbourne, on the Western Highway to Adelaide, Stawell is close to the world-renowned Grampians National Park. Year 7 students enrol from nine local primary schools and study a comprehensive Victorian Curriculum; Years 8 to 10 enable an increasing choice of subjects as students’ progress through the school or enrol from elsewhere. Year 11 and 12 pathways are tailored to student needs. Teaching at Stawell Secondary College provides both personal and professional fulfilment. It is an opportunity to contribute to the development of an innovative curriculum reflective of 21st century technologies and culture. Social and emotional learning is supported through a vertical home group structure for all students. There is a horizontal student management structure with a year level co-ordinator for each year level. There are also Sub-School managers that oversee the Junior and Senior sectors. All staff actively work to promote engagement and utilise restorative practice to re-engage students when necessary. Student leadership is integral to the success of our school, and this is developed with student ambassadors, house leaders, school captains and bus-route leaders. Sport, music, and various forms of competition are offered within the curriculum and can also be pursued as extra-curricular activities. Individuals and teams compete in a range of sports to state level, and the school band performs for entertainment and competition. Instrumental tuition is available and can lead to a number of music certificates. Introduced in 2012, the College has successfully embedded a one-to-one personal computer program. Progressive recruitment of graduates is enabling the College to develop a balance between new and experienced teachers allowing positive development of mentoring relationships and the infusion of new ideas. Stawell Secondary College provides a real opportunity for a new staff member to play a leading role in school improvement. Selection Criteria SC1 Capacity to undertake routine tasks across a range of functions relevant to cleaning a school environment.
SC2 Demonstrated proficiency in the use of technical equipment as relevant to the position.
SC3 Capacity to work cooperatively with a range of people including teachers, education support, students and parents.
SC4 Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate cleaning methods relevant to the varied areas within a school. SC5 Capacity to work effectively as part of the cleaning team.
SC6 Willingness to take on other duties, if required, as directed by the Principal or Assistant Principal.
Role The role of the successful applicant will be to perform a number of activities within the school to ensure the school maintains a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene. Tasks are clearly defined and are subject to broad direction. The successful applicant will work as part of the cleaning team.
This position is responsible for the internal cleaning of the entire school. This position is also responsible for ensuring the security of the school at the end of each day. Responsibilities Working as part of the cleaning team the responsibilities are:
* Empty all bins daily
* Clean all toilets daily
* Ensure all windows and doors are locked at the end of each day
* Ensure all lights, heaters and air conditioners are turned off each day
* Dust and clean all surfaces
* Dust and clean all tables and furniture
* Refill paper towel & toilet paper dispensers
* Clean interior glass
* Vacuum all carpets
* Sweep and wash all hard floor surfaces
* Other duties as deemed necessary by the Principal
