Child and Family Health Nurse Role
The position of the Child and Family Health Nurse serves as a critical entry point into the community health care system, providing an integrated multidisciplinary service response based on individual client and family needs.
* This involves utilizing the Family Partnership Model as the foundation for the nurse-family relationship and supportive counselling to deliver programs such as Universal Health Home Visiting and Safe Start.
* The Child and Family Health Nurse will also provide a screening and surveillance program for infants and children as informed by the NSW Personal Health Record using evidence-based tools.
* Providing opportunistic immunisations according to the NSW Childhood Immunisation Schedule (0-5 years) and actively promoting, protecting and supporting breastfeeding are key responsibilities of this role.
* Facilitating evidence-based groups delivered to meet child health, development and parenting support needs of families within the community is another critical aspect of the position.
About You: Essential Skills and Qualifications
* Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and post graduate qualifications in Child and Family Health, Authorised Nurse Immuniser and Family Partnership Training are essential requirements.
* A Class C Drivers Licence and willingness to travel for work purposes are also necessary.
