About the role:
Support the Strategic Communications Coordinator by delivering high quality, proactive and integrated two-way communications to inform and engage the diverse community of the local council area.
Preparing media releases and responding to media enquiries.
Duties and responsibilities:
Develop communications plans and campaigns for large, complex and critical programs and projects.
Contribute to communication strategy development and implement adopted communication strategies and plans.
Collaborate with other team members to manage Council's social media channels, sourcing and providing accurate and topical content, and moderating and responding to comments.
Provide operational communications and engagement support and advice to key staff managing projects, services and events.
Provide strategic communications and engagement support by coaching key staff to develop communication plans based on sound communication and engagement principles and using a range of media (social media, print, broadcast etc.).
Assist key staff with the development of publication, design and campaign material.
Generate ideas for the staff newsletter and Community News magazine.
Qualifications and experience:
Tertiary qualification in communications, journalism or a related discipline or a lesser qualification with substantial relevant experience in the field of communications.
Relevant experience in managing a range of media channels for a large organisation.
Highly developed writing and communication skills.
Experience in photography, videography and post-production.
