We are looking to recruit an Associate Architect to expand our Building Design teams in Newcastle. This role is suited to someone who wants to work in a multi-disciplinary collaborative environment, take responsibility throughout the full design lifecycle and work on a variety of projects.

Your role

- Help architects grow within our new team, providing a multi‑disciplined environment and client‑facing opportunities.
- Manage and inspire a team through strong and inclusive leadership.
- Sustain and develop relationships with existing and new clients.
- Ensure design responses are pragmatic and respond to the client brief while respecting climate, context and culture.
- Continue to develop designs rooted in a strong narrative to enhance our reputation.
- Lead projects by providing design and technical leadership for major projects.
- Report on activity and analyse feedback and success factors.
- Develop the design culture and capability of our multi‑disciplinary design team(s).

About you

- RIBA Part 3 qualification, ARB registered, with demonstrable experience on a wide range of complex projects at different stages and a good understanding of UK Building Regulations.
- Experience across different sectors and a track record of designing and delivering sector‑led schemes from inception to completion while leading multi‑disciplinary teams, providing contractor interface and acting as the main client contact.
- Highly skilled and passionate designer committed to delivering design excellence at all stages of the design and construction process.
- Proficient in design software, especially Revit, Adobe suite, Enscape or V‑Ray and AutoCAD.
- Consistently contributes to successful delivery of complex, small, medium and large‑scale projects, taking responsibility for specific roles, areas or packages within a project, recognising budget and programme importance.
- Supports and mentors staff through Part 1 and 2, reviewing work to drive design quality and output.
- Flexible, positive “can‑do” attitude, self‑motivated, explicit thinker, team player.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing high‑quality written design deliverables and presentations to clients and stakeholders.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary design work, including managing and coordinating specialist designers and consultants where appropriate.
- Business development, proven record of developing client relationships, leading bid opportunities and securing new business.

Security clearance: This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance.
