About the RoleReporting to the Lead Engineer - Energy, this is a full-time hybrid role for a Principal Secondary Engineer to be based in our Melbourne Office. You'll provide technical leadership and mentorship to the capable and ambitious secondary team based in Melbourne. This role is ideal for an experienced secondary engineer who is seeking a varied role combining hands‐on detailed design, technical sign‐off and technical mentorship of the team. The Principal Secondary Engineer will play a critical role in the successful delivery of an extensive portfolio of projects including substations, renewables, BESS, solar, wind, resources and water. ResponsibilitiesDesign or review designs for protection schemes and control schemes. Power system studies; load flow, fault studies and protection coordination. Be a technical focal point for the secondary team; hands‐on design for complex projects, technical sign‐off and provide technical mentorship. Project manage the design process. Consult with clients on technical aspects of projects from feasibility to commissioning. Contribute to continuous improvement in design processes, tools and safety‐in‐design. QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering in an electrical discipline NER Registered, RPEQ, RPEV Comprehensive knowledge of AS3000 and AS2067 About You+10 years experience in secondary design and project leadership. Strong design, analytical and leadership skills. Proficiency with PowerFactory DIgSILENT, PTW and ETAP. Experience with PSSE and PSCAD will be highly regarded. Excellent attention to detail and time management. Enjoy a combination of technical review, detailed design, mentorship and client engagement. Strong teamwork and communication skills with the ability to engage with the team, clients and vendors. An agile mindset, the aptitude to thrive and positively contribute to the success of a rapidly growing business. Passion for mentoring engineers at all levels, sharing information and growing the team capability both technically and as professional engineers. Must have full work rights in Australia.
