Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Active Directory Administrator – L2 to support one of our telecom domain clients based in North Sydney, Australia. The role will focus on managing and maintaining enterprise Active Directory infrastructure, supporting identity and access management processes, and providing Level 2 operational support for directory services.
The candidate will be responsible for handling user and group management, authentication troubleshooting, directory services health monitoring, and ensuring the availability and security of the Microsoft Active Directory environment in a large enterprise network.
Key ResponsibilitiesActive Directory Administration
* Administer and maintain the Microsoft Active Directory environment, including domains, organisational units, users, and groups.
* Perform user lifecycle management, including account provisioning, modification, and de-provisioning.
* Implement and maintain Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to enforce security and configuration standards.
* Support domain controller operations, replication monitoring, and directory health checks.
Directory Services & Authentication
* Troubleshoot authentication and directory service issues involving LDAP queries and integrations with enterprise applications.
* Manage and support Active Directory Global Catalogue servers to ensure efficient directory searches across domains.
* Configure and maintain DNS services supporting Active Directory domain infrastructure.
* Work with application teams to integrate systems with AD-based authentication.
DNS & Infrastructure Support
* Manage Domain Name System configurations supporting Active Directory domains.
* Troubleshoot DNS-related issues impacting domain authentication and replication.
* Ensure proper DNS records for domain controllers and directory services operations.
* Provide Level 2 operational support for Active Directory incidents and service requests.
* Monitor and resolve directory-related issues within agreed SLA timelines.
* Escalate complex infrastructure problems to L3 or engineering teams when required.
Security & Access Management
* Support role-based access control (RBAC) and enforce enterprise access governance policies.
* Assist with privileged access administration and user access reviews.
* Ensure AD configurations follow corporate security and compliance standards.
Monitoring & Documentation
* Monitor AD services, including replication, authentication services, and domain controller performance.
* Maintain documentation related to AD architecture, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
* Contribute to operational runbooks and knowledge base articles.
Required Technical Skills
* Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Active Directory administration in enterprise environments.
* Good understanding of Active Directory architecture, including forests, domains, and organisational units.
* Experience working with the Domain Name System integrated with Active Directory.
* Knowledge of LDAP and directory queries used for authentication and application integration.
* Understanding of Active Directory Global Catalogue functionality and cross-domain search operations.
* Experience managing Group Policies (GPO) and domain security policies.
* Basic scripting knowledge using PowerShell for AD administration.
* Familiarity with enterprise ITSM ticketing tools and support processes.
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline.
* Microsoft certifications such as:
* Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator
* ITIL Foundation certification is an advantage.
