About The Role
The Administration Officer - Building Services Unit is responsible for providing high-quality administrative support to the Building Services Unit (BSU). The role ensures the smooth operation of administrative functions, compliance with Council's contractual obligations, and efficient coordination of financial, procurement, and customer service activities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support, including raising requisitions for goods and services and goods receipting in line with Council's procurement procedures.
What We're Looking For
We need someone who shares our values of One, Respect, Accountability, Courage, and Resilience. The ideal candidate will have:
* A minimum of a Cert II in Business Administration or at least 2 years experience in a business administration or a related field.
* Strong proficiency in data entry, financial processing, and record management systems.
* Knowledge of the construction industry and the local government building sector (highly desirable).
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ability to learn industry-specific software.
* Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
* High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
* Demonstrated understanding of the issues impacting Torres Strait Islander people together with the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively.
