Primary objective
Develop, implement, and support project and operational policies that support regulatory functions, strategic objectives,
operational plans and program initiatives of the Transport Safety and Services Branch. Provide high-level advice,
coordination and support to the Transport Safety and Services team and work collaboratively with various internal and
external stakeholders to achieve the outcomes.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Undertake the development, implementation and ongoing assessment of business systems and processes across
Transport Safety and Services including the identification of issues and providing recommendations on strategies and
improvements.
1. Manage the development and implementation of operational, strategic, and regulatory policies and other instruments,
identifying issues, developing innovative solutions, and providing advice and information to Directors.
1. Manage special projects from inception to evaluation.
2. Undertake research and maintain knowledge of current and emerging local and national transport issues, strategies,
legislation, regulatory frameworks, policies, and business systems, preparing reports and providing advice.
5. Identifying legal issues, interpreting, and applying legislation and working with stakeholders to resolve issues.
6. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders utilising effective engagement
and consultation processes and represent the Transport Safety and Services unit at local forums.
7. Prepare ministerial briefings, project, business and communications plans and high-level correspondence.
8. Develop and manage communications and marketing materials including website content.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Highly developed research and analysis skills in policy development and implementation, as well as the interpretation and
application of legislation and other instruments within a regulatory framework.
2. Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and consultation including developing and managing communications and
marketing materials.
3. Demonstrated project management and problem-solving skills.
4. High level oral and written communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills including an ability to interact effectively
with people of diverse cultures.
5. Strong ability to work under pressure, prioritise commitments, provide innovative and practical options to address
complex issues and meet critical deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
6. Proven experience in writing clear and accurate reports providing advice and information on complex issues.
Desirable
1. Certificate or other relevant qualification in project management.
