About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Learning & Development Manager to shape the future capability of our workforce. Reporting into the HR function, you will shape our organisation‐wide learning strategy and ensure that development initiatives genuinely lift performance, safety, leadership capability, and employee experience. This role is both strategic and hands‐on: you'll set direction, design programs, deliver content, and influence leaders across both vessel and on‐shore teams. You'll bring a blend of business acumen, instructional design expertise, and an ability to create practical, meaningful learning that resonates with operational environments. Your work will help us build a capable, confident, and future‐ready workforce.
Responsibilities
* Designing and delivering a cohesive L&D strategy that aligns with business priorities and future capability needs
* Leading strategic operational training, ensuring training supports efficiency, safety, and future workforce needs
* Developing and coordinating technical driver training programs for safe and compliant vehicle and equipment operation
* Creating leadership development, technical, safety, and compliance training programs
* Enhancing onboarding and induction experiences to support sustainable, safe performance from day one
* Introducing modern learning approaches, including digital tools, blended learning, and micro‐learning
* Building and maintaining competency frameworks and ensuring robust training records
* Working with operational leaders to identify capability gaps and design targeted solutions
* Measuring program effectiveness and driving continuous improvement in learning delivery
Qualifications
* Proven experience designing and leading L&D initiatives, ideally within transport, logistics, maritime, or other safety‐critical environments
Required Skills
* Strong instructional design capability and a practical approach to adult learning
* The ability to partner confidently with senior leaders and influence organisational thinking
* Creative problem‐solving skills and a passion for building capability that improves performance
* Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills
* Strong organisation and prioritisation skills in a dynamic, growing environment
