Murray Irrigation Limited (MIL) is the largest private irrigation water delivery company in Australia, formed as an unlisted public company in March 1995 when the NSW Government privatised its Murray Irrigation area and districts. The company's irrigators are also shareholders and include 2,100 landholdings across 724,000 hectares in the Southern Riverina.
MIL is located in southern NSW and uses approximately 2,755km of gravity-fed earthen channels to deliver a five-year average of 728GL to their landholders, through efficient management of their NSW Murray Regulated River Water Access Licences (WALs). Head office is in Deniliquin with branch offices in Finley and Wakool. Farm businesses in the area predominately include rice, cereals, wheat, canola, annual pasture, dairy, wool, beef and lamb, with an average gross value agriculture production of $500 million.

About the Role
This position reports to the Strategic Asset Manager and is based full‐time at the Deniliquin site. The Senior Technical Support Engineer will lead on‐site engineering inspections, provide high‐level technical advice across Water Delivery, Maintenance and Capital Works, and drive RCA, FMEA and other problem‐solving methodologies to resolve complex asset issues.
Responsibilities
* Lead on‐site engineering inspections and provide high‐level technical advice across Water Delivery, Maintenance and Capital Works.
* Drive RCA, FMEA and other problem‐solving methodologies to resolve complex asset issues.
* Develop and optimise maintenance strategies, manuals and preventive maintenance schedules.
* Lead condition monitoring programmes and Life Extension Plans for key mechanical assets.
* Prepare business cases, scopes of work and tender documentation for maintenance and capital works.
* Review design documentation for constructability, accuracy and fitness for purpose.
* Support landholder‐funded works and provide on‐site technical support when required.
* Strengthen asset management systems, data integrity and alignment with ISO 55000.
* Build strong relationships with contractors, consultants, landholders and government stakeholders.
* Represent MIL at shareholder meetings, forums, workshops and industry events.
Qualifications
* Degree in Mechanical, Civil or Reliability Engineering (or equivalent).
* 8+ years of engineering experience with strong asset management exposure.
* Proven capability in maintenance strategy development, condition monitoring and lifecycle planning.
* Strong problem‐solving skills, including hands‐on experience with RCA and FMEA.
* Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Ability to work under pressure, prioritise effectively and deliver to service standards.
* Experience with asset management systems and data analysis tools.
* Current driver's licence and White Card.
* Desirable: Engineers Australia registration, irrigation/water infrastructure knowledge, experience in agribusiness or the Murray–Darling Basin.
